Grounding

Grounding is a way of actively and physically settling yourself. It is particularly useful if your mind has a tendency to run away with itself, or your thinking goes round in vicious circles.

  • Start by sitting upright in a supportive chair, both feet planted on the floor.

  • Breathe deeply and slowly.

  • Send your attention to your feet (get as far away from your head as possible!). Notice how your feet come into contact with the ground. Are your feet hot or cold? How do your shoes fit? Wiggle your toes. Keep your attention here as long as possible.

You can do this at your desk, or on the bus/train - no-one will know!
